The State of Florida requires that anyone who offers painting as a service is to have an active Certificate of Competency
and maintain general liability insurance.
To obtain a Certificate of Competency in painting, one must provide verifiable work history in the painting industry, clear a criminal background check, be financially responsible and pass two state exams pertaining to business and industry knowledge.
This mandate is in place to help protect the consumer from those who may be unskilled or unqualified.
As the consumer, it is always the wise choice to only hire licensed and insured painters.
